Marine biology also includes studies on how viruses and other infections occur in marine environments. Marine biology often involves scientific methodologies that are directly relevant to living organisms, whereas marine chemistry focuses more on the chemical reac tions that occur at the molecular level, where cellular life is concerned.In addition to scientific methodologies, there are many other areas that play a significant role in the study of marine chemistry. Analytical chemistry is the branch of marine chemistry that studies the properties of compounds in the laboratory environment. Analytical chemistry encompasses methods used to quantify chemical properties in the laboratory, including the use of x-ray spectroscopy.Molecular biology is the study of how certain organisms interact with their environment. Molecular biology is primarily focused on how the cells of an organism to respond to environmental conditions. Molecular biology is largely used in life-science laboratories, but can be applied to marine and environmental science as well.Marine Chemistry is the study of the chemistry of the ocean and the environment surrounding the ocean. It is a common, if not the most common course of study at colleges and universities today.
